Christine Ijeoma Ohuruogu MBE was born on May 17th 1984. She is well known for her 400m races, in which she is British Champion.
Ohuruogu was born in Newham, in London. She was raised near the 2012 Olympic stadium. Her sports career started out when she played netball and competed in athletics in the London Youth Games.
One of her shining moments was when she won the gold medal in the Beijing 2008 Olympics. A year after the Summer Olympics in London, she achieved her current personal best for the 400m of 49.41 seconds.
She isn’t only a 400m star. Her personal best for 60m is 7.54 seconds. The women’s world record for this is 6.92 seconds. She is 0.86 seconds off the women’s world record which is 10.49.
Christine also got an MBE for services to sports.
